The Pantanal project is a greenfield site controlled by Clean Energy Brazil, located in Sidrolandia, in the Mato Grosso do Sul state. It is expected that the project will come into operation by the 2009/10 crop season, with an initial annual cane crushing capacity of 1.6 million tonnes.
In its first phase, the Pantanal unit will only be distilling ethanol (anticipated to be producing 135,000 cubic meters per year at full capacity). During the second phase, Pantanal’s annual crushing capacity will be expanded to 2.0 million tonnes.
Currently Pantanal is expanding its sugar cane plantation, having planted 1,500 hectares under a secured lease land agreement covering 7,000 hectares.
